I am typing this from the comfort of my desk here at LaZer Towers, the winter sun is streaming through the window and all is well with my world 🙂 I have enjoyed a most rejuvenating Xmas break and with the clock counting down on 2014 I thought that this would be a great time to give you all a wee reminder to give some thought to the new year that lies ahead 🙂 So, without further ado, here’s how to make your dreams come true in 2015 in 3 simple steps 🙂
Make Your Dreams Come True in 3 Simple Steps
This is actually really simple; just follow the three steps below –
- Define, clearly and concisely, exactly what you want
- Make a plan to get what you’ve defined
- Forget sbout your goal and follow the plan
There you go, it’s that simple. Please note here that I said simple, not easy 🙂
You now have two choices – go and start work on getting exactly what you want right away or stick around for some more information on the three steps and, more importantly, how to apply them 🙂
Step One – Decide What You Want
The first step is to define, clearly and concisely, exactly what it is you want. After all the single biggest reason for people failing to achieve their goals is quite simply not deciding what they are in the first place! The more effort you put into this the easier the next steps will be and this will greatly improve your chances of success 🙂
Here’s mine – I will be in the best shape of my life in July 2015 🙂
You also need to consider why you want it. Your ‘why’ should motivate and inspire you. Your ‘why’ is what will drive you through the journey ahead. When you feel like quitting, and you will, it is your ‘why’ that will get you through.
“He who has a strong enough why can bear almost any ‘how’.” – Nietzsche
Write everything down on paper, it will greatly improve your chances of success. When you write down your goals state them in positive, personal terms and in the present tense – this may sound strange, but it works.
Visualize how you will look and feel when you achieved your goal and how it will affect everything and everyone around you. Again this may sound strange, but it works.
Remember what I said earlier? Getting exactly what you want is simple, but that doesn’t mean it is easy. It requires desire, commitment and consistent focus so implementing everything and anything that makes the process easier makes sense to me 🙂
Once you’ve settled on what it is you want you’ll need to find a way to measure your success. If your goal is specific enough then this is usually easy to do – if you want to lose 20lbs then you’ll be measuring your success by getting weighed for example.
Finally you need to set yourself a realistic time frame for achieving your goal. Deadlines are motivating. Three months is a perfect time frame to work with, it’s long enough to completely transform your body, but near enough to create a sense of urgency. That’s why I offer 12 week packages.
If you’re uncertain about how to measure your success or if your time frame, or even your goal, is realistic this then get some help. The golden rule here is that any help you receive is impartial, trustworthy and brutally honest. My Edinburgh personal training clients will testify that I am in possession of all three of these qualities 🙂
Step Two – Make A Plan
Your next step is to make a plan. Think of the process as a journey. You need to make a route plan with your goal as the destination so to make your plan you simply break down the journey into little steps. The smaller the steps the better. These steps should take the form of simple habits which when repeated over time will see you reaching your destination. Now simply focus on taking each little step, one at a time 🙂
By way of example here’s some of my simple daily habits 🙂
– prepare food (to make sticking to my nutritional regime as easy as possible)
– eat according to my nutritional regime
– start to get ready for bed @ 10pm. Go to bed by 10.30pm. Go to sleep by 11pm.
If you’re uncertain about how to plan effectively then get some help! Ask a friend or enlist the services of a professional, like me 🙂
At this point I’d like you to consider something. If you forgot all about your destination and simply followed your daily habits do you think you’d still get there? Yes, so do I. At the very least you’d be able to look yourself in the eye and know that you gave it everything you had and to me this is the most important thing 🙂

Step Three – Start Walking
The final part is by far the easiest – simply start walking, keep taking one step after another and you’re golden 🙂
All the best for your journey 🙂
