The Edinburgh Food Porn Interviews – Me! :o)

The Gastronomic Adventures of Matt Lazenby, Personal Trainer In Edinburgh and Pizza Freak and Blogger! πŸ™‚

For Melissa, thanks for the inspiration! πŸ™‚

Yo Peeps! πŸ™‚

On April 18th at 5pm my FB friend Melissa posted a link on her newsfeed to an article entitled ‘15 X-Rated Photos of Edinburgh’s filthiest Food Porn‘. I clicked it and the idea for the FPI’s appeared almost fully formed in my mind, hence my response ~ β€œI feel a project coming on! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ ”

My initial thought was that it would be fun to eat every single meal on the list. In order to justify such an orgy of gastronomic delight (and give me something to write about for the next few months!) I thought I’d invite someone interesting along, natter with them, officiallyΒ about things exercise and nutrition related, call it an interview and post it on here for your education and entertainment πŸ™‚

Destination Dough!Β Yummy Goodness!

To set the ball rolling I thought I’d treat myself to a pizza from Dough (it’s 8th on the list) and interview myself! πŸ™‚

Who Are You and Why Are You Here? πŸ˜€

I’m Matt Lazenby and this is my blog! I’m an old school personal trainer in Edinburgh. I help real people recreate themselves with weights and time tested sustainable nutritional strategies that really work! My mission (I’m in business, I have to have one!) is to inspire, educate, empower and encourage real people to become really awesome! πŸ™‚ I thought of it all on my own too! πŸ™‚

What Does Your Current Training Program Look Like?

A lot of fun! I started a new block yesterday – cheeky wee bonus blog post on this coming later this week – after I’ve 3 weeks of priming – check out my blog post on it here – and I’m as excited as ever! πŸ˜€

Any Training Related Thoughts You’d Care To Share?

I love weight training and I love going to the gym. That said I think that the best possible form of exercise is whatever you enjoy! If you love doing Zumba with your mates, do it! If you love running, run! You’ll look sexier if you train with weights though! πŸ˜€

What Does Your Current Nutritional Program Look Like?Salad Goodness

It looks amazing! I’mΒ on 2500 cals 6 days a week with a weekly refeed program when eat whatever I like which will doubtless largely involve pizza and ice cream! πŸ™‚

Any Nutritional Related Thoughts You’d Care To Share?

If you want to lose weight you need to take in less calories than you burn. That’s the bottom line, full stop, period πŸ™‚

If you want to build muscle eat as much as you can without getting fat. Eat whatever makes you happy πŸ™‚

My favourite foods are pizza, ice cream, steak, burger and cheesecake πŸ™‚ And cookies, I nearly forgot them! πŸ™‚ And cheese, really strong cheese, preferably blue πŸ™‚

My favourite drinks are cold water and coffee πŸ™‚

What’s More Important, Diet or Exercise?

For fat loss, diet. For everything else, exercise/training.

What Did You Think Of The Food at Dough?IMG_3774

It was great! By far the best pizza I’ve had in Edinburgh. I got a 10″ SCOZIA –Β Haggis, Stornaway black pudding, pancetta, egg and it was epic! πŸ™‚ I also had a rather yummy salad and some amazing Nutella croissants! Yes I did just say Nutella croissants! πŸ™‚

The staff were friendly, service was quick and the restaurant is clean and has a great atmosphere! πŸ™‚

All in all I’d HIGHLY RECOMMEND visiting Dough! πŸ™‚

Get Involved!

I’veΒ contacted a few likely candidates and asked if I could take them out to dinner and grill them (I’m really pleased with that!) and I’ve lined up the first two FPI’s with a couple more in the negotiations stage! πŸ™‚

You can look forward to the first next week! πŸ™‚

This still leaves me with plenty more restaurants to visit though so if you think you’re interesting enough for my blog and fancy grabbing a bite to eat with me or know anyone else who you think might be contact me and let me know! πŸ™‚
