More Gastronomic Excesses with Edinburgh Personal Trainer Matt Lazenby, Foodie, Reluctant Marketer and Inconsistent Blogger! 🙂

Greeting Readers! 🙂

It’s possible some of you are expecting the first ‘proper’ of The Edinburgh Food Porn Interviews but due to a cluster of glitches in the matrix and the relocation of LaZer Towers to Marchmont there’s been a change of plan and so you get to read all about my Edinburgh Food Porn Fantasy Day and my ‘new’ nutritional regime instead! 😀

I’m Not Perfect – Still! :

Despite boldly announcing my new nutritional program in my last post Edinburgh Personal Trainer Matt Lazenby and the 5 Day a Week Workout of Wonder my food intake has been all over the Personal Trainer Edinburgh Matt Lazenbyplace for the last few weeks as those of you who were paying attention to my last post and/or following me on FB will have figured out! For those of you who weren’t here’s the key paragraph.

“My nutritional program has had a bit of a tweak too! ? I’m back on a once a week refeed with 6 days at 2500 cals and 1 day of excess, most likely featuring pizza and ice cream as usual!

I’ve got a craving for burger and sweet potato fries so I think I’m going to have that every day until I’m bored of it. I imagine that chicken will feature heavily along with vegetables, tortilla wraps, oats, protein powder and maybe a bit of fruit here and there too ? When I’ve figured it out I’ll stick it up on my FB page so keep your eyes peeled! ?”

Soooo after 4 weeks of rather chaotic eating to say the least I’ve finally got my act together and worked out my daily foods! 🙂 I like to do this then simply eat the same thing everyday until I’m bored, then rinse and repeat 🙂

As expected beef makes an appearance, along with perennial faves tortilla wraps, protein powder and veggies 🙂 Yogurt and Lidl Muesli, the mainstays of my diet last year make a welcome return as apparently I’m craving these of late! 🙂
Here’s exactly how my daily diet looks, along with all the numbers for those of you who are interested in that sort of thing! 🙂

150g muesli
250g low fat natural yogurt
2 scoops protein powder – I like Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey but despite mentioning this quite a lot they don’t ever send me free stuff! 😀

2 tortilla wraps
veggies – red onion, garlic, peppers, mushrooms, courgettes and anything else I fancy!

This come to about 2500 calories, 200g protein, 250g carbs and 80g fat split into a good old fashioned 3 square meals a day 🙂

On my ‘cheat’ ‘refeed’ ‘feed’ day I’ll consume lots of yummy goodness, probably including a pizza, a burger with fries and lots of cheese and some sort of cake type thing, probably of the cheese variety! 😀

Edinburgh Food Porn Fantasies 🙂

Based on my current favourite places to eat in Edinburgh my food porn fantasy refeed day would start with breakfast at The City Cafe on Blair Street with beef patties (that’s a beef burger with no bun), pancakes and syrup and a latte 🙂 I’m a big fan of The City Cafe, it’s been my place for breakfast in Edinburgh for years now and I can’t see this changing anytime soon as they simply never fail to deliver 🙂

My next stop would be Mimi’s Picnic Parlour on Canongate for coffee and cheesecake. Mimi’s cheesecake is the best in Edinburgh IMHO. Artisan Cheesecake in Bruntsfield Place is also well worthMimi's Bakehouse - best cheesecake in Edinburgh! a visit and have the edge over Mimi’s in terms of choice. The Chocolate Tree is just over the road too! 🙂

Burger Meats Bun on Forth Street would be my next port of call 🙂 They do great burgers and amazing cheese fries and I like the chill and relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant 🙂

Bread Meets Bread on Lothian Road do great burgers and fries too – the sweet potato fries with maple syrup are incredible! – and is well worth a visit! 🙂

I think I’d round out the day at Dough on Rose Street with a pizza! 🙂 I wrote about this splendid establishment recently and if you’re a pizza lover I can’t recommend them highly enough! 🙂
I realise that I’ve not eaten any ice cream, I might pick up a tub on the way back to LaZer Towers for supper! 🙂
